Second Day of Tobelo 2024 Bible Week
Like a sporting event, the excitement of Tobelo Bible Week 2024 continued until the completion of day two, August 1, 2024. This sunny day began with the Digital Literacy Workshop: Creating in the Digital World. The event was originally planned as a collaborative program with CGN Indonesia. Long before the day of Bible Week in Tobelo, CGN Indonesia planned to present a joint program with LAI's Digital Services Department. However, as time went by, their desire to work in Tobelo was dashed due to various obstacles. One factor was the health problems of Mr. Yun, the director of CGN Indonesia. Although he was unable to come, CGN entrusted the Digital Literacy Workshop fully to the LAI Digital Department as the presenter of the material. CGN continues to support with a variety of neat materials from them. And it went smoothly until the end.
Unexpectedly, the enthusiasm of young people to learn how to create video content in the digital world remained high. They listened with interest to every material presented, such as: Digital Ministry, Social Media Wisdom, Becoming a Content Creator, as well as Good Video Making Techniques, could be understood by the participants who were mostly still quite young, high school and college students. The high school students who participated in this workshop were fully supported by their schools. Interestingly, with a limited amount of time, the 100 or so participants divided into 10 groups managed to practice the science of making short videos. They eagerly discussed making a script, dissecting the story into various scenes and scenarios, then stitching them together using the Capcut application on their devices. Of course, this cannot be compared to the production of professionals. But what should be appreciated is that these young creators are starting to think creatively and have the courage to realize their ideas in video content.
The video content created is contested for awards for best scriptwriter, best editor, best actress and actor, and best director. There are also first, second, and third place awards for the most creative videos.
Although the training was quite dense and tiring, they were happy because they got new knowledge that could be immediately practiced. While waiting for the results of the creative video competition, LAI also shared about the Memra platform, a platform that supports the Christian community, as well as facilitates the common desire to read God's Word more practically, easily, and fun.
Late in the evening, came the Bible Quiz session which was as exciting as the science competition show. Almost simultaneously, a vocal competition was held, featuring young talents from various churches in the Tobelo area. In addition to the vocal competition, the Yangere music festival attracted quite a lot of attention. Tobelo's traditional music, with its unique sound and local wisdom, was beautifully presented, bringing the audience to the dance floor. Yangere music flows and blends with the dances performed while singing by the singers, who are mostly women.
It was getting late, and the competition was over. The judges had assessed the candidates for both the solo vocal competition and the Yangere music competition. The schedule of events and competitions is quite busy and for some participants and organizers it feels exhausting. But all the fatigue soon disappeared, if you remember the people of God who rejoiced in the benefits of organizing Bible Week. Tiring but refreshing!
Bible Week still has one day left, may its presence continue to bless and inspire many of God's people until it comes to a close.
Bible greetings to all.
