In the warmth of His anger, He remains a good God.
"He is the LORD, let him do what he thinks good." Eli realized that he and his sons had indeed done wrong. So he graciously accepted the news of the judgment that the Lord would bring upon him, his sons, and their descendants. A punishment that was so severe. Whether he liked it or not, the verdict had been rendered, and Elijah still saw and recognized the goodness of the LORD in it all.
Friends of the Bible, truth is never dependent on human feelings and acceptance, especially when it is contradictory, unwanted, unwelcome, restrictive, condemning, or revealing of sin. For we only like what pleases our ears. Eli is an example for us in seeing God's every action and truth, that all is done in His good will and sight. Learn to accept that.
Nothing comes from God that is not an unkind gift, even if it hurts, it is good, accept it with gratitude! That is the sign of the greatness and maturity of our faith, hallelujah.
