On Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at 17:00 WIB, a Thanksgiving Service for the Inauguration of the Surabaya Representative Office and Bookstore of the Indonesian Bible Institute (LAI) took place. The event was preceded by the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (KKS) between LAI and three Theological Colleges (STT) in Surabaya, namely STT Adhi Wacana, STT Amadeus, and STT Sabda Agung, at 16:30 WIB. Through the KKS, it is hoped that the two institutions can support each other in Christian service, especially in the academic field and Good News ministry.
The thanksgiving service was attended by 51 servants of God in Surabaya and surrounding areas. The Word of God was delivered by Rev. David Kosasih, Chairman of the Synod of Abdiel Christian Church (GKA). In his sermon, Rev. David Kosasih reminded the congregation of the important role of the Bible in the lives of believers. He also emphasized the importance of cooperation between Christian institutions to expand services and strengthen the faith of the congregation.
Dr. Sigit Triyono, General Secretary of LAI, in his speech expressed his gratitude for the inauguration of the new office and bookstore. He hoped that the new facility would be a blessing to the people of Surabaya, especially in enriching their spiritual life through the provision of Bibles and other spiritual literature.
After the worship service and speeches, the inauguration of the office and bookstore was marked by the cutting of tumpeng by the General Secretary of LAI, Dr. Sigit Triyono. The presence of church leaders also enlivened this event, including Mrs. Claudia (General Chairperson of Persekutuan Gereja-Gereja di Indonesia Surabaya - PGIS), Mrs. Maria (General Secretary of PGIS), Rev. Johan from PGIP, Mrs. Bertha from the East Java Provincial Christian Guidance Office, Mr. Sukarman from the East Java Provincial Catholic Guidance Office, Pdt. Raindy (General Secretary of the Fellowship of Indonesian Evangelical Churches and Institutions - PGLII), Rev. W. Kristian Wijaya (Chairman of PGIS Nganjuk), Mr. Bari from PGTI, Mr. Yordan Batara representing the BAMAG/DPRD element, Mr. Willy from Majalah Berkat as well as the BAMAG board, Mr. Juanda from the Regional Executive Board of the Surabaya Synod of the Indonesian Bethel Church (GBI), and Mr. Hiew (Chairman of the Mission of the Surabaya GBI Synod).

The procession of cutting tumpeng was carried out solemnly as a symbol of gratitude and hope that this office and bookstore can become a useful service center for Christians in Surabaya and surrounding areas. Afterwards, the audience was invited to browse through the Bible products at the LAI Surabaya Bookstore. The collection of Bibles offered is very diverse, ranging from children's, youth, adult Bibles, to special editions with various translations and in-depth explanations. On the day of the inauguration, LAI Surabaya Bookstore gave special discounts to visitors.
Not only looking at LAI's published products, the attendees also had the opportunity to socialize in an atmosphere full of intimacy. This moment was utilized by the LAI leadership, church leaders, representatives of the Christian and Catholic Bimas, as well as pastors and synods to exchange ideas and establish closer relationships.
This Gratitude Service for the Inauguration of the Office and Bookstore of LAI Surabaya Regional Representative went smoothly and meaningfully. The existence of this office and bookstore is expected to become a service center that not only provides Bibles, but also a place of consultation and learning for the congregation and the general public. With the cooperation with the three Theological Colleges in Surabaya, it is hoped that a strong synergy will be created in the development of academic and spiritual ministries.
The presence of church leaders and leaders of religious institutions in this event shows great support for LAI and its mission. They hope that through this new facility, LAI's ministry in Surabaya can further grow and have a positive impact on Christians in the region.
The event ended with a closing prayer that prayed that the newly inaugurated office and bookstore can function well and be a blessing to many people.
