CREATING THE DIVINE MISSION FOR THE NEXT GENERATION
The morning atmosphere around the Abdiel Christian Church (GKA) Synod office on Saturday, May 4, 2024 was bright and hopeful. It was a historic moment for the Indonesian Bible Institute (LAI) and the GKA Synod. The two institutions agreed to establish a mutually empowering partnership through the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (KKS).
Present at the meeting were the leaders of the two partnering institutions. From GKA, the General Chairman of the GKA Synod, Rev. David S. Kosasih, 2nd Secretary, Ev. Ivan Nondolesmono, and the Synod Treasurer, Pnt. Timothy Gunawan. While from LAI, the General Chairperson of LAI, Rev. Dr. Henriette T. Hutabarat Lebang, as well as the Head of the LAI Department of Communication and Partnership Development, Erna Yuliawati, and accompanied by LAI Staff Representative of Surabaya, Hana Ferren were present.
More than just an agreement on paper, the signing of this PSC strengthens the shared vision of both institutions to jointly spread the Good News to the ends of the earth and make God's word an inspiration and guide in life. LAI hopes that through this partnership the light and truth of God's word will increasingly take root in the hearts of the people, enriching their spirituality and leading God's people in their daily lives in the midst of the world. In line with LAI, the GKA Synod has the same hope, to enrich the spiritual experience of the people through deeper and more meaningful use of the Bible.
This cooperation agreement opens the door for collaboration between the two institutions in spiritual education. The GKA Synod has several schools that can serve as a platform for LAI to continue introducing the Bible and its parts to the next generation. The common hope of both institutions is that through strong spiritual education, students can grow and develop in faith, becoming a strong and responsible generation in passing on the Christian values that both parties stand for. Thus, the signing of this PSC is not only the beginning of the partnership journey, but also the foundation of better spiritual development for Christians and the nation as a whole in the future.(hf)
