Bible Prayer Month 2024

Praise God, through His grace and leading, the Indonesian Bible Institute (LAI) celebrated its 70th anniversary on 9 February 2024. A long journey with God has been travelled, so that LAI can faithfully carry out its vision, presenting the Bible and its parts to its partners, viz: churches, people, Christian organisations, businesses, governments and foreign partners. We are grateful that LAI has worked together with churches in translating and publishing 4 translations of the Bible in Indonesian, 38 translations of the Bible in local languages (Old and New Testaments), 112 New Testaments in local languages, and 98 portions. The efforts to provide and disseminate the Bible to all corners of the archipelago may be a blessing for Christians in reading, understanding and practising the Word of God in the midst of their daily lives. In this thanksgiving celebration, LAI hopes that the use of the TB-2 Bible, which was launched a year ago by LAI and its partners, the churches in Indonesia, will be more widely used by Christians.
Entering the month of September 2024, we again invite congregations/parishes to celebrate the Bible Prayer Month (BDA) 2024 in one of the Sunday services. The momentum of BDA is an opportunity for people to be together grateful for the availability of Bible translations in languages that are easy to understand and close to the heart. For the implementation of BDA, attached we send the Adult Worship Order and Introduction to Sermon Themes, as well as materials for Sunday School and Youth, which can be an alternative material for BDA thanksgiving worship. The theme of the BDA is: "The LORD has done great things" (Psalm 126:3, TB-2), which is also the theme of LAI's work in 2024.
It is our hope that at the BDA 2024 thanksgiving service the congregations/parishes and all LAI partners will be moved and committed to support the translation of the Bible into the Manggarai language (East Nusa Tenggara), through the collection of thanksgiving offerings. A translation of the New Testament in the Manggarai language is already available and being used by God's people there.
Currently funding is being sought for the translation of the Old Testament into the Manggarai language in the amount of Rp. 850,000,000,- (eight hundred and fifty million rupiah).
