The opening service of Siberut Bible Week, Mentawai, was held at the South Siberut Parish Hall (Canizzaro Hall) The service began at 09:00 WIB which was attended by junior and senior high school children as well as men and women. The opening service began with a typical dance of Siberut Island, Mentawai, namely the turuk langgai dance.

The minister of the word at the service was P. Maurice Fokam, SX. The word of God was taken from 2 Timothy 3:16 TB2 “All Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” Pastor conveyed the message that the Scripture or Bible is the Word of God Himself and it is through this that God speaks to His people. 

The series of Bible Week activities were officially opened by Fr Maurice Fokam, SX along with LAI representatives by beating a gong. The Bible Week activities in Siberut, Mentawai will last for 3 days from 24-26 April 2024. After the opening service, it was followed by the New Translation 2 Bible Socialisation Seminar with Mr Hortensius F. Mandaru, SSL. During the seminar, a question and answer session was held, and a total of 172 participants attended the seminar session.

After the seminar and lunch break, the colouring competition was held again in the category of Kindergarten-SD grade 1-2 with a total of 42 participants. At the same time, there was also a competition to memorise Bible verses taken from the meditation on God's Word in the opening service, namely 2 Timothy 3: 16 TB2, and was attended by 42 children. The winners of each competition will be announced at the closing service of Bible Week on Friday, 26 April 2024.

On this first day, the LAI museum visit was attended by 347 people, of course, among these 347 people, there were certainly those who received attractive door prizes from LAI. The LAI museum exhibition as well as the LAI published products exhibition were open from 09:00-19:00 WIB for 3 days in Siberut, Mentawai.
