Our Bible certainly has definite benefits

The definite benefit that we can receive when we get to know, read, study and explore the Bible, is that the Bible will lead us to spiritual intelligence, just like Timothy who was introduced to the Bible since childhood, as well as I also introduced my son to the Bible from childhood even before he entered school, because I believe that the basis of all knowledge (12 intelligences) is "ALKITAB" which is the core of all intelligence - Pastor Kristianto (GBI Baitani Sukabumi)

Praise the Lord that the Bible week in Sukabumi was well conducted on 7-9 September 2023 in Sukabumi precisely at Baitani Baptist Church.

This Bible Week was the first post-pandemic Bible Week and was also attended by the Mayor of Sukabumi H. Achmad Fahmi, S.Ag., M.M.Pd   along with the FKUB of Sukabumi City. The Mayor also gave his time to attend the opening day of the Bible Week on Thursday, 7 September 2023 and accompanied the children who were participants in the Bible verse memorisation competition, he also visited to look at the Bible Museum Exhibition, bazaar, and also the Bible shop exhibition.

All generations enjoyed every activity, churches and schools in Sukabumi City gathered in one activity, starting from the first day on Thursday 7 September 2023 we opened this activity with morning worship together accompanied by vocal groups and angklung games, after that continued with a Bible verse memorization competition for children in grades 1-3 SD, with a specified time, they competed to memorize the verse 2 Timothy 3:15 TB2 “Remember also that from childhood you have known the Scriptures which can give you wisdom and lead you to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus ” Then continued with the story telling competition for the 7th-9th grade category, they stood in front of the judges to tell the story of “ Sida-sida from Ethiopia ” in their own way, some brought props to tell stories, some dressed up to be the same as the role played, some also wore costumes to attract the attention of the judges.

At the same time, there was also a drawing competition in the 4th-6th grade category which was attended by 22 participants from a total of 10 churches. In the afternoon at exactly 16:00 WIB ended with the Seminar "Parenting Challenges in the Digital Era" by Mrs Marcella Siddidiaia, Psi - Founder of Family Psychology. This seminar was attended by fathers and mothers who want to learn to have the right parenting for their children according to the truth of God's Word and also from the perspective of psychology. Learning to not only be a "teacher" who just wants to see his students become smarter and better, but more than that, parents are invited to become "friends" for their children to have a relationship that is always built every day. The seminar ended after a question and answer session, also every seminar participant who attended the seminar received a certificate according to the theme of the seminar he attended, even every day interesting door prizes were given to every participant who attended the seminar that day as well as visitors to the Bible museum exhibition, of course drawn according to attendance. Those who received the prizes rejoiced and were so cheerful considering that this activity could be followed free of charge.

On the second day, there was a flower arrangement competition for the elderly category, reportedly the first time this competition was held during Bible week, and there had been none before. It became a special activity that involved the elderly to work on producing flowers according to their preferences, unexpectedly, each participant produced a work that was so beautiful and there was no work that was the same as one another, one of the elderly gave a quote from Hosea 14:6 in the flower she made which is a lily “I will be like dew to Israel, so she will blossom like a lily ” the event continued with a solo vocal competition for the category of grades 10-12 SMA, participants sang the same song namely “Bejanamu ” and on the same day also specifically for the solo vocal competition, the winner was announced because the first winner would be asked to sing on the closing day of Bible week precisely on the night of the fund. Then afterwards, there was another seminar with the theme "Introducing God in Generation Z by Rev. Marshal Blessings, S. Kom - Founder of Sahabat Blessings, Marshall shared God's heart for generation Z who were present at that time, Marshall invited them not to live outside God, because without Him we are nobody. The seminar was again closed with a question and answer session and the announcement of the door prizes again.

Bible Museum Exhibition as well as physical objects in the Bible and mini tour of the New Testament and Old Testament, LAI Products Exhibition which provides 20-50% saving price for every purchase, also food bazaar, drinks, snacks, spiritual books, spiritual souvenirs all of this can be visited by participants in every morning for 3 days starting from 09:00-19:00 WIB, on this 3rd day, a colouring competition took place in the category of children in kindergarten A and kindergarten B classes, they coloured a picture of Noah with a pair of animals he brought to the ark, the children coloured on totebag media. In the same hour as the colouring competition, there was also a TB 2 Bible Socialisation presented by Rev Anwar Tjen, PhD - Kadept. The LAI team interviewed one of the participants of the LAI seminar, Rev Lukman Sitorus who is the Pastor of GKI Sukabumi and also the chairman of PGIS, he was grateful to be able to participate in the Bible week for 3 days, "I am really happy that the Christians in the city of Sukabumi can receive blessings for these 3 days, especially I was also able to participate in the TB2 socialisation seminar, I got a lot of input because in fact the word of God must always be made easy to understand for the next generation. The word of God will not change, but updates are needed to convey the word of God to this generation ”   

We came to the last competition of Bible Week 2023, the "Bible Quiz" which was participated by 8 groups of participants from 4 schools in the 4th-6th grade category. One group was allowed to choose an envelope containing a question, when the group was unable to answer then the other groups competed to try to answer by pressing the bell button provided.

The series of Bible Week events that were greeted enthusiastically ended with a closing worship service along with a fund night, where LAI invited the congregation to get involved in supporting the New Readers of the Bible programme in Mentawai, Ibu Neila (LAI) explained how the literacy needs there, and then Pastor Engkih together with KKPD Bandung Partners participated in inviting and sharing God's heart in the midst of the congregation. After the completion of the fundraising night, the committee ended the event by announcing the winners of each competition and distributing the prizes and trophies.

In the hope that this Bible week may further encourage people to love the Bible, Pastor Kristianto (GBI Baitani Sukabumi) shared a verse on Haggai 1:8 TB2“ Bring wood and build the temple”he invites each of us to carry wood, this wood is likened to a Bible, because this Bible is formed from a collection of paper that comes from wood, let's carry this wood (Bible) everywhere, in order to build the temple of other human lives to live in the truth of God's Word.
