The Indonesian Bible Society (LAI) is organising an intergenerational concert entitled “The Most Precious Treasure” on Saturday, 31 October 2026, from 10.00 to 12.00 WIB, at the Calvin Christian School Auditorium, North Jakarta. This concert invites families, churches and the wider community to recognise the importance of passing on the Bible as the most precious treasure to the next generation.
The theme “The Most Beautiful Treasure” conveys the message that the Bible is not merely a book to be owned, but a legacy of faith that must be introduced and passed on from generation to generation. This message is in line with the Word of God in 2 Timothy 3:15: “...remember also that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise...” This verse reminds us that familiarity with the Holy Scriptures from childhood is an important foundation for the growth of one’s faith and life.
An intergenerational atmosphere was evident throughout the concert, featuring a performance by the children’s choir, Nior’s ventriloquism act, Nayaka Tomasouw, and a poetry reading from a Braille book by Fransisca Evelin Gunawan. One of the most memorable moments came during Natashia Nikita’s performance, as she sang familiar hymns that have been sung since Sunday School days.
These songs evoked childhood memories and connected intergenerational faith experiences. Children, parents and even the elderly were seen singing along and savouring the songs that had once been part of their faith journey. This moment illustrates that the values of faith can continue to thrive when shared and passed down within families and church communities.
This concert is also part of the LAI’s fundraising campaign, with a target of Rp2.1 billion to support the provision of 20,000 copies of the New Translation 2 (TB2) Children’s Bible and spiritual reading materials for children in Indonesia. Fundraising is carried out through ticket sales, sponsorship and mission support, as well as donations made during the event.
A total of 438 seats were filled during the concert. The presence of people from various generations was a manifestation of support and unity in ministry to reach Indonesian children through the Word of God.
Through the intergenerational concert “Harta Terindah”, LAI hopes that more families and churches will take part in introducing the Bible to children from an early age. After all, the Bible is not merely something to be owned, but something to be passed on.(victor)
