According to many studies conducted by experts, the human brain continues to develop along with its growth period. One important note is that this development will be faster if someone trains it well. Unfortunately, in the realm of our religiosity, often our understanding of faith does not experience significant development. As a result, we easily fall into temptation.
This is the main concern of the writer of the letter to the Hebrews in today's passage. The congregation that was the first target of the letter to the Hebrews was a Christian community with a Jewish background, over time their knowledge and understanding of Christ also continued to grow. Unfortunately, their level of understanding did not develop well enough. That is why when challenges came to the small community, many members of the congregation were tempted to return to their old beliefs. The writer of the letter to the Hebrews harshly rebuked them by saying that they were like adults who were still consuming children's food. This sarcastic expression seemed to slap them, because their level of understanding did not grow and develop properly. It is only natural that in the end they were tempted to leave Christ due to a very weak foundation of faith.
Bible friends, let us be Christians who have a thirst for the Word of God. In this way, we will try to overcome limitations and always look for ways to reflect on His Word, reflect on our relationship with God, and ultimately grow our faith. This is the main capital that we must have in facing the challenges and trials of life that are very diverse. When we have the right understanding of faith, we are not easily swayed by various teachings that lead to destruction.
