Opression and injustice are ancient issues that have probably arisen since human civilization developed. At the same time, various ideals to eliminate oppression and injustice have also flourished and tried to realize themselves fully. Today we will see that the call for justice is well documented in the verses of Psalm 43:1 - 44:9. The psalmist immortalizes his ideal of justice and what his people understood justice to be.
In the first severe of the narrative (chapter 43), the psalmist points out the reality of oppression that his people are going through. "Give me justice, O God, and plead my cause against the ungodly!", a straightforward cry in verse 1 that presents the situation directly. Injustice is happening and the perpetrators are those who do not submit to God/the ungodly. The psalmist does not hesitate to cry out to God and plead with Him for justice because God is always on the side of His people and brings deliverance.
This cry is then followed by a reference to the history of God's presence to the Israelites. God was with the Israelites in their deliverance from Egypt, as they made their way to the promised land, until they became a great kingdom. It was not by their own strength but by His hand that God gave them victory. That is the reason for all the praise that is given to the people. So rely on Him in the midst of everything including the struggle for justice.
Friends of the Bible, if at this time we feel so many crushes of life and even injustice come and hit life, do not hesitate to continue to hold on to the hope that God provides. God will reveal His justice and victory to the people who rely on Him.
