We often hear the following statement, "Verily, nothing is impossible for Allah." It feels so comforting and reassuring. But when that proclamation of faith is confronted with the challenges and struggles of daily life suddenly everything changes. We feel so small, we no longer feel His presence, while the problems and challenges feel so big. So it is important to live life in the awareness of His mighty power. There is no one greater and more powerful than God on this earth.
Psalm 68: 25-36 describes a declaration of faith in God's omnipotence that encompasses the entire universe. God is depicted in a procession that follows the pattern of the kings of the earth when victorious in battle. Parades are held to celebrate the victory, with all nations praising the greatness of God. Now God the King of the Universe is also praised by His people. The procession is a picture of the response the people should have when they realize His works and greatness. Recognition of God's power is expressed through liturgical actions (praise and procession), but also results in changes in daily life.
God's power is also described as transcending everything in the entire universe. All of creation is within His reach. May the whole world realize His power and submit to God. Ultimately all of creation should praise Him for His power to provide victory and protection to His people (vv. 34-36).
What does this praise and recognition of God's omnipotence mean in our daily lives? Recognizing God's power means acknowledging that He is the source of our strength and victory. Even though the world is full of challenges and suffering, we can still walk in hope because God's infinite power gives us victory, protection, and salvation. So continue to live in the confidence of faith in His love and provision. Life can be tough at times, but rest assured that God's love and power go hand in hand to be with us in all our fragility.
