Have you ever been in a position of being "stuck" and far from being free from all the causes that made it happen? But we know that God is a God who brings rescue and deliverance to those who cling to Him. His deliverance always happens and when it does, we are invited to proclaim His deliverance.
In this reading we see the psalmist who is crushed by his enemies. He knew that God would reveal His justice, especially since the psalmist was not the one who did wrong. It was natural for him to ask for justice to be revealed to His enemies through various things that happened. Meanwhile, in contrast to the wicked people around him, the psalmist chose to live in praise of God. His praise is about God's salvific work throughout the day and His unfailing justice.
The psalmist's testimony is something that God himself taught him from his youth (v.17). Even forever God is his protector and savior. So the one thing that the psalmist requests is that God does not forsake him. Thus the psalmist wanted to proclaim God's work forever. It is interesting to look at verse 20, there lies the most sincere commitment of the faithful. If we usually unconsciously only want to receive good things from God, while when bad things happen we blame God, here the psalmist teaches us to accept everything that comes from God. Good and bad things are part of divine providence, all of which teach us submission to God. Isn't that the most authentic form of faith.
Bible friends, let us live in true faith in Him. Be confident that God will help us even when we are crushed and pressed so hard. Look at our whole life and there is not a single day that passes without His love and protection. After all of that, don't forget to testify to His goodness. Tell of His deeds because we never know that there are people who are down and blessed by the stories of God's goodness that we tell.
