In the rapidly developing digital era, accessing information has become very easy. Fake news or hoaxes can spread quickly through social media and online platforms. If we are not vigilant, we as netizens can easily get caught up in hoaxes or even become their spreaders. Therefore, in order to increase awareness of hoaxes and false information that are widely circulating in cyberspace, the Digital Service and Development Department of the Indonesian Bible Society (LAI) held a Digital Literacy Workshop for church youth in Biak Numfor Regency. This activity is part of Bible Week which was held last week.
Not only were they given insight into how to use social media wisely, the forty-one participants who attended were also invited to become creative 'content creators', with fresh ideas that can produce "out of the box" videos. They were also provided with technical videography materials to further hone their skills in becoming a 'content creator'.
After receiving the material briefing, the participants were invited to go directly to the field. Each group must make a video with a maximum duration of 2 minutes with the theme "I Love the Bible". The videos are then competed, so they have to compete with each other to win the championship with attractive prizes.
The Digital Literacy Workshop was closed with an introduction to the Memra application developed by the LAI digital team, as well as the formation of a Bible reading community on the platform. On this occasion, an inauguration was also carried out on behalf of Israel Mansnandifu as the Coordinator of Gemar Membaca Alkitab in Biak. It is hoped that with this community, every young person in the church can be more diligent and complete in reading God's Word. [zvp]
