Social Media Wisdom Seminar.

On the 2nd day of Bible Week 2025 in Sungailiat, one of the most anticipated activities was Digital Literacy: Social Media Wisdom in the Age of AI. In the morning of September 6, 2025, at GBI Air Merapin, teenagers had gathered in the church courtyard. Some of them were visiting the Bible museum exhibition, while others were writing their names on the list of participants. The teenagers who came from various schools in the Sungailiat area were preparing to take part in the Digital Literacy Seminar: Social Media Wisdom in the Age of AI. Since 8.45am they had been preparing themselves enthusiastically for the seminar.

Ahead of 10:00 am, they had gathered in the congregation seats in the multipurpose room of GBI Air Merapin.

"Shaloom! If I say how are you, you answer, amazing!", Mr. Alvador Manik, as moderator and host, began to greet the teenagers who were enthusiastic about participating in the seminar. Soon, the intro of the song "Jangan Lelah" came on, inviting the teenagers to sing along, adding to the warm atmosphere of the rain-soaked morning of Air Merapin.

 

It wasn't long before Reggy Leo came forward and began to present the material with enthusiasm. The important values of social media were well explained. The pillars of digital literacy were also uniquely explained, becoming an acronym for C.A.B.E., which stands for Capable, Safe, Cultural, and Ethical. Unexpectedly, the material that has been heard so often can be brought back in a light and fun way.

 

"All jobs will be replaced by AI!", said Reggy in one of his presentation points. He explained that the era of social media is now more advanced, when Artificial Intelligence is increasingly developed and has been useful.

 

But more than that, Reggy stated that as young people and children who believe in Jesus, we should utilize all technological advances including AI, to mission, do ministry, and be a blessing in the virtual and real world.

 

After finishing his presentation, Reggy invited the participants to practice creating visual content. As a companion tool, ALIN (Interactive Bible), an AI-based Bible application from the Indonesian Bible Institute, was used to find content material. The creations from this content creation practice were finally assessed by Mr. Reggy as the resource person. This assessment was also assisted by the content team of the Indonesian Bible Institute.

 

"I see it looks like the friends here are used to making designs for school, huh ...", said Bung Reggy enthusiastically because he saw the children's work was so good and neat.

At 1pm, the seminar was over. The participants were excited and happy. Not only hearing the material, they also managed to practice "digital ministry".

 

After door prizes and gifts were distributed, the event closed with joy.

 

The Sungailiat Bible Week 2025 event will still last until September 7, 2025. There are many other exciting events such as competitions, exhibitions of Bible collections, and closing worship. Next, LAI will head to Pangkalpinang and return to conduct Bible Week activities on September 9-11, 2025 at GBI Pulau Bangka.

 

As the closing sentence of the event, Reggy stated:
