Sungailiat Bible Week 2025 finally reached its final day. On Sunday afternoon, September 7, 2025, at the Air Merapin Indonesian Christian Association (GBI), at least 100 people had gathered in the worship space. They sang and praised God together in the final service of Bible Week. Accompanied by melodious music, the worship leader skillfully led the congregation in praise and worship.
After 30 minutes, the preacher of God's word, Rev. Andreas Lizal (GBI Air Merapin), took to the pulpit to preach. The soft piano accompaniment continued as the opening prayer was read. This added to the serene atmosphere, preparing the hearts of the congregation to hear God's word.
"...Amen! Thank you for your extraordinary work, organizing various events and seminars during this Bible Week," Rev. Andreas Lizal concluded with a prayer introduction and began his sermon with a soothing affirmation to the local committee and the team from the LAI Center. It was heartwarming and appreciative of all the hard work and effort that had been put into Sungailiat Bible Week.
Rev. Andreas Lizal delivered a meditation on the Word of God from Matthew 14:13. He shared how truly loving and compassionate Jesus is.
"When we face problems, sometimes we see them through a physical lens, making the difficulties seem impossible to overcome. However, behind every major problem, there is actually an open door, if we are willing to see it through a spiritual lens. With true faith in Jesus," he added, stating that miracles still exist and are happening today.
"However, above all, we must have compassion. If the church has compassion, it will surely reap many souls," he continued. He also said that in the context of compassion, we must practice and engage in it. "Small things, if we are willing to participate, will have a big impact," he added.
In delivering his meditation, Rev. Andreas also conveyed the values of surrender and gratitude, which can also be exemplified by Job.
"The weak are strengthened, the poor are enriched. The blind can see; He has done this for me."
The Word of God concluded with a solemn song, "The Weak Are Strengthened," leading into Holy Communion. After meditation on the Word and Holy Communion, the service concluded. The final event arrived: the Closing of Bible Week. Rev. Petrus began the closing ceremony with his remarks. "May this final day of the event not just be the end, but the beginning of a deeper understanding of the Bible," he said eloquently at the end of his remarks, drawing enthusiasm from the congregation that afternoon. The Central Indonesian Institute of Indonesian Studies (LAI) also expressed its gratitude, represented by Mr. Markus Johan. Following this, the competition announcements and prize distribution took place.
