Sunday School Teachers Workshop and Bible Prayer Month's Socialization at GKI Serpong

“The story of Obadiah” from 1 Kings 18:1-15 became an important inspiration in the Sunday School Teachers Workshop (GSM) and the Socialization of the Bible Prayer Month (BDA) 2025 organized by the Indonesian Bible Institute at GKI Serpong, Tangerang – Banten on Saturday, August 30, 2025. The spirit and enthusiasm to follow the coaching was evident on the faces of 41 children's ministers who attended from 17 churches in Banten and surrounding areas.

The Rev. Benny Halim, S.Th., M.Si., Chairman of PGI Banten Region and pastor of GKI Serang, served as the main speaker. In his presentation, he emphasized the importance of the exemplary life of a Sunday School teacher. Scripture cannot possibly record all divine works (John 20:30-31, 21:25). The role of Sunday School teachers is needed in the lives of Sunday School children. "God has spoken (to man) before the Bible was written, the Bible itself is the written word of God," he added. This message encouraged participants to make their lives a living testimony of God's word.

Participants were invited not only to understand the task of teaching, but also to reflect on the call of faith so that their ministry is increasingly rooted in Christ. An interesting question and answer session between the speakers and GSM made the workshop more lively. The enthusiasm of the participants reflected the unity of heart of the churches in Banten in educating the younger generation in faith. This workshop is not just a learning forum, but also a moment of spiritual strengthening and a real testimony that the ministry of Sunday School Teachers is a spiritual investment for the future of the church.

Socialization of the Bible Prayer Month 2025 was also an important part of this event, reminding churches to be grateful for the work of Bible translation in Indonesia and inviting people to take part in supporting the mission of translating the Bible, especially the Old Testament into the Ot Danum language in Kalimantan. The socialization of the Bible Prayer Month was presented by Caroline Marlissa, Head of LAI's Support Raising Section. Sunday School Teachers were also introduced to the Friends of the Bible Program and Sunday School children were invited to save money for their brothers and sisters in remote areas. About 10 churches committed to invite their Sunday School children to save through a piggy bank ” Sharing Love for My Friend”.
