Palembang, September 28, 2024 – In an atmosphere full of wisdom and joy, the inauguration service for the Palembang Regional Support Working Group (KKPD) was successfully held at the Indonesian Baptist Church Palembang. The event began at 17.00 WIB, attended by 99 participants from various church denominations, and supported by the presence of special invited guests, including from service agencies such as PESAT (Integrated Village Service), GMKI, and various other church synods.
The service was led by Rev. Artinus Telaumbanua, Pastor of Palembang Baptist Church who also serves as the Formation Team of the Palembang MPA. The women's choir from the LPPD of South Sumatra Province presented two songs, one of which was “ Really How Good, ” which was performed with great solemnity. Pendi served as liturgist and MC, supported by Nuni and Carren as praise leaders, and Sofaldin as pianist.
The event was also attended by important figures such as Rev. Fierry Lee from MISI, Rev. Bagus Ade Dinata Panjaitan (South Sumatra Christian Minister), as well as the Chairperson II of PGI South Sumatra Region, Rev. Lince Siahaan from PGLII. In an atmosphere full of intimacy, invited guests from various church denominations participated in feeling together in the inauguration of the Palembang KKPD board.
Inauguration of the Palembang KKPD Board for 2024-2029 Period
The inauguration of the Palembang KKPD board was carried out symbolically by pinning the membership card and giving the Decree (SK) to the elected board. Rev. Eddy Yonatan from GBI MPI Bukit Kasih was appointed as advisor, Rev. Marihot Siahaan from GPKB Taman Siswa as chairman, and Dr. Kornelius from the Indonesian Evangelical Christian Church (GKII) as vice chairman.
Dr. Sigit Triyono, General Secretary of LAI, was present representing the LAI Board and in his speech he expressed his gratitude for the formation of the Palembang ICC. We are very grateful to all invited guests and parties who have supported the formation of this MPA. Palembang is the 8th MPA to be formed after Bandung, Semarang, Kupang, Jakarta, Bali, Surabaya, and Malang," Sigit explained.
He also emphasized the importance of KKPD's role in LAI's mission to distribute Bibles throughout the country. "KKPD plays an important role in helping God's people in various regions to have Bibles. Through the LAI program, we can together donate Bibles to those in need," he said. Sigit also invited all attendees to continue to support this movement through "DWD. Pray, Proclaim, and Donate.
Great Expectations from Church Leaders
In his speech, Rev. Eddy Yonatan as the advisor of KKPD Palembang said, "This KKPD is a very important platform to expand the reach of the Bible to more people. Our hope is that through this collaboration, more and more of our brothers and sisters can have and read the word of God.
The newly appointed Chairperson of the Palembang MPA, Rev. Marihot Siahaan, also expressed his gratitude to LAI, the General Secretary of LAI, and the entire board for being willing to serve together. He also expressed his appreciation to the Palembang Formation Team, which has worked hard over the past five months to form the management of this MPA. "This is the result of the hard work and dedication of the entire team, and we are committed to continuing this ministry with full responsibility," said Rev. Marihot.
Committee Debriefing: Improving Understanding and Synergy
After the inauguration service, the activities continued with the debriefing of the Palembang KKPD board which was held in an elementary school classroom next to the church. The debriefing session began with a dinner together, creating a warm and intimate atmosphere among the board.
In the debriefing session, Sigit again explained the vision and mission of LAI and the various programs run by this institution. Through the screening of the LAI profile video and an explanation of the official LAI website, all administrators were invited to understand more about the organization they now support. "With our support, LAI can continue to print and distribute Bibles to all corners of Indonesia," Sigit explained, emphasizing the importance of KKPD's role in supporting the sustainability of Bible printing.
One of the participants, Novi, who was involved in the Child Support Working Group (KKPA), also testified to the importance of supporting LAI. "We need to continue to support LAI so that everyone can have a Bible. Through us, the Bible printing press can continue to operate and bless many people,
Novi said with conviction.
Pastor Fierry Lee of MISI, who also attended the briefing, added, "Through the understanding of God's word, many congregations are equipped to get closer to God. We need to continue supporting this mission so that more people are blessed through His word.
This inauguration and debriefing service of the Palembang CDC became an important momentum to strengthen support for the mission of spreading the Bible in Indonesia. With burning enthusiasm, the newly appointed administrators are determined to carry out this task with full commitment, and hope that through solid cooperation, more and more of God's people can experience the blessing of His word.
