62nd Anniversary, GAMKI Awards Twelve Inspirational Figures in Eleven Areas of Service
Jakarta – There was something different about the 62nd Anniversary of the Indonesian Christian Youth Movement (GAMKI) this year. At the anniversary celebration held at the University of Indonesia Faculty of Medicine Hall, Monday, May 27, 2024, the GAMKI Central Leadership Council awarded eleven categories of inspirational figures through an appreciation entitled "GAMKI Award".
” We present the GAMKI Award to remember that there are always inspiring people who work in the midst of society according to their fields of expertise, and especially those who provide benefits to the general public, ” said DPP GAMKI General Secretary Alan Christian Singkali.
Alan added, GAMKI seeks to emulate these people by first giving the highest appreciation for their dedication, spirit, and achievements, especially those who have been working silently.
On behalf of the awardee, Lamtiar Simorangkir expressed his appreciation for this GAMKI Award. "I was surprised when I was contacted to receive this award. What I have done has not been very significant, but this award reminds me to continue working and inspiring many people," said the film director and screenwriter.
Lamtiar revealed that he has a community of filmmakers to raise important issues in society, such as related stories about pregnant inmates and children raised in prison.
”Hopefully these films can be a safe place of discussion for the betterment of the nation and state. We want the younger generation, regardless of our background and occupation, to be able to contribute to the country we love no matter how small. May GAMKI continue to move forward to build our nation and country," Lamtiar explained.
On the same occasion, DPP GAMKI Chairman Sahat Sinurat stated, the GAMKI Award is given as a tribute to seniors and interfaith friends who actively provide inspiration in every field of service.
According to Sahat, with this GAMKI Award we can understand that there are many figures who have made many reforms and changes in various fields. They continue to try and move in a silent way, rarely covered by the hustle and bustle of the media, but continue to inspire according to their respective talents.
”This is what we can give so that the GAMKI Award recipients can continue to inspire, and the rest of us can do the works and write history according to our God-given talents,” said Sahat.
The GAMKI Anniversary was attended by various figures such as Deputy for Coordination of National Unity of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Janedjri M. Gaffar,. former GAMKI Chairman Sahat Sinaga and Dating Palembangan, West Kalimantan GAMKI DPD Chairman Jeffray Edward, GPIB Synod Assembly Chairman Reverend Paulus Kariso Rumambi, Reverend Saut Sirait, Johny Nelson Simanjuntak, Pewarna Chairman Yusuf Mujiono, and other youth organizations.
