Every institution needs a clear and measurable plan as a road map to move into the future. It is also needed as a guide and direction in facing various challenges and opportunities, and the Indonesian Bible Institute (LAI) is no exception. Although LAI has entered its 70th year of service in Indonesia, it still needs guidance that must be updated in accordance with changes that occur both internally and externally/globally.

LAI urgently needs to formulate strategic measures in the face of rapid changes with unpredictable predictions, according to the VUCA concept: (i) Volatility, the nature, dynamics and speed of change that can significantly affect the organisation. (ii) Uncertainty, lack of predictability, surprises, difficulty in realising and understanding issues and events. iii) Complexity, multiplex forces, blending of issues, no chain of causation and confusion surrounding the organisation. (iv) Ambiguity, blurring of reality, potential for misreading, conditions that give rise to mixed meanings; cause-and-effect confusion.

The rapid development of digital technology presents both challenges and opportunities. This requires LAI to be agile in adapting to its development. Both in product innovation, service to the people, and operational efficiency.

Through the arrival of the TB-2 Bible in February 2023, LAI continues to strive to deliver new and quality products for all generations. We therefore recognise the need for careful planning in all supporting aspects, both for LAI internally and for the people as users.

The above encourages LAI to anticipate and analyse the current context and rapidly evolving trends in the future. In addition, LAI also needs to analyse its internal readiness to face the various challenges and opportunities that exist.

With reference to LAI's Long Term Plan (2020-2035), the results of this analysis will lead to appropriate strategies and programmes that address the needs of stakeholders over the next five years (2025-2029).
