Giving a lecture at the STFT public lecture series
Wednesday, 12 August 2026, The Digital Department’s Content Division at the Indonesian Bible Society (LAI) was invited to deliver a public lecture as part of the student orientation programme at the Jakarta School of Philosophy and Theology (STFT). Through Vince Ellysabeth, Head of the Content Division, the organising committee asked LAI to share insights and knowledge regarding the creation of theological content on the Indonesian Bible Society’s social media platforms.
Joseph Wisesa Nababan and Hizkia Yosurandri were appointed to deliver this presentation. On that sunny day, the prospective students had been taking part in various campus orientation activities since the morning. Various presentations regarding campus life, rules and regulations, and guidance for students were delivered clearly and firmly. The series of events proceeded smoothly. At 13:00 WIB, following a shared lunch, it was time for the prospective undergraduate (S1) and postgraduate (S2) students to attend a public lecture from the LAI content department entitled: “Creative Theology Through Social Media”. The session was led by moderator Eirene Muna Siska Siringoringo, who opened the event and introduced the speakers very well.
The lecture began with Joseph Wisesa Nababan, who outlined the basics of using social mediaial. This was followed by a discussion on how to use social media in accordance with the Great Commission of the Lord Jesus. The class became increasingly engaging, as the participants interacted dynamically. “God’s message must ‘get through’ to the people who see our content,” he emphasised during one part of his presentation. He also reminded the participants that using social media is not merely about going viral or making it onto the ‘FYP’, but is also about being a blessing to users of gadgets and digital media.
The next session was a practical workshop on content creation led by Hizkia Yosurandri. In this session, the explanation focused on the methods and processes of content creation at LAI. It was explained that managing content on social media is closely linked to one of LAI’s mandates, “Bible Engagement”, in order to fulfil the organisation’s vision and mission. It was also noted that there is a significant difference between managing personal social media accounts and those of the Organisation. Furthermore, the basics of “branding” were explained, which is also applied in the management of the Indonesian Bible Society’s social media. The session concluded with a question-and-answer session and a practical exercise on the stages of content creation. Participants in the public lecture were divided into several groups to draw up their content plans. Everything from concerns, issues, background and objectives to the relevance to the needs of the Christian community must be clearly explained and elaborated upon. Furthermore, the format of the content and the production process must also be properly communicated to ensure a well-thought-out plan that produces high-quality content.
At around 14.30 WIB, the event drew to a close. The moderator announced that there would be a follow-up session after this public lecture. Finally, after approximately 90 minutes, the public lecture ‘Creative Theology Through Social Media’ came to an end. It concluded with a group photo; all prospective students were delighted and gained a wealth of new knowledge regarding content planning and social media.
