In the midst of heartbreaking suffering, Job still testified of his obedience to God. He said, “My feet have always followed His steps; I have kept His ways and have not turned aside” (Job 23:11). Despite living in the midst of suffering, Job did not deviate from the path that God had set. He even kept God’s word more than his daily food, an expression of how important a relationship with God was in his life, which was more meaningful than physical needs.
Job’s cry to God was his effort to continue to remember the Creator. However, God seemed unmoved, Job’s cry was ignored. Job felt trapped between his strong faith and the painful reality. If we were Job, we might have left God long ago. So Job’s persistence in continuing to ask for God’s explanation is something that every believer should emulate. Job’s questions and explanations were not a symbol of unbelief, but rather a determination to hold on to His decrees.
Bible friends, having faith in the midst of life's uncertainties means learning to trust God even when we don't see how or when justice will come. True faith is not formed simply through the blessings we receive, but through the determination to remain faithful in the midst of all the suffering that exists.
