Each person's encounter with God is very personal and unique. God encounters each person in the particularity of each person's experience. So that encounter can happen in joy or sorrow, when laughter or tears. The willingness of the heart to open itself to His revelation is an essential prerequisite for such an encounter.
This is what happened in the course of Job's life. His life, which was fine and even abundant in all things, suddenly turned upside down. He lost his wealth, his children, was abandoned by his wife, and experienced severe illness. Throughout his suffering, Job struggled about many things. He even filed a lawsuit against God for what he experienced. In his innocence, why did Job have to suffer. While his friends judged and considered Job to be suffering because of his sins.
Now we come to the final part of his journey. God meets Job in a storm. In the roar of the storm, God reveals His power and shows His deeds over the universe. Job's lawsuit suddenly fell apart. He realized that ultimately God is the one who is in charge and has the right to bring anything upon the universe. Yet God appreciated Job's honesty and his efforts to seek justice in his suffering. On the other hand, Job also realized that as a creation, there is a great distance between the creation and the Creator. In an encounter that was preceded by a journey of suffering, Job concluded such a beautiful thing, "I have heard of you only by word of men, but now my own eyes behold you." (Job 42:5 TB2).
Bible friends, let us know God through everything in our lives including all the situations we experience. Suffering and various difficulties in life must be interpreted in relationship with Him. It is not easy, but when our hearts are surrendered and directed to God, we can see everything based on full surrender to God. This shows our loyalty as well as recognition of His sovereignty. There is no greater thing in the universe than God who owns all things and is sovereign to bring about whatever He wills.
