Living My Existence in Relationship with Him

The question of human existence, be it in terms of meaning or questions about itself, is something that has fascinated people throughout the ages. Why do we live in the world? What is the purpose of our existence? Does our existence have a certain predetermined meaning? This existential contemplation is also captured by the psalmist in our reading this time. It's just that he wears the contemplation of human existence always in relation to his creator.

Our reading begins with a basic question and plea to God to search and know His people. In the second half of the poem, verses 13-24, the psalmist invites us to delve deeper into the true identity of man. God is the Creator of all things, including humans. In contrast to the description of God's creation of man based on His word, the description of creation is now shown through a systematic and orderly process of formation. He is the Weaver who “weaves” man in his mother's womb. It is miraculous and beyond the reach of the human mind. He knows each person even before they are created in the world and determines their footsteps until the end.

That is how miraculous His every action is. The psalmist humbly invites believers throughout the ages to humbly acknowledge our limitations in understanding His mind and will. So the psalmist chooses to remain a righteous person who firmly holds on to His truth, in contrast to the wicked who rebel against God. So one thing he asked was for God to search him, to search his heart, to test him and know his thoughts. So that the path that each person chooses is clear. If it is crooked, may God straighten it and return it to the right path.

Friends of the Bible, in our reflection this time it is finally clear that our entire existence is tethered to the relationship and awareness of the existence of the Creator. Thus, all efforts to know and reflect on ourselves should always be related to the appreciation of our existence in relationship with Him. Do not move away from Him for a second. He is the God who always embraces us in His love and inclusion.
