Almost three months have passed since we entered the year 2026. Most of us probably started the year with various plans to be realised in the coming year. In fact, some of those plans may have been at a crossroads between being realised or not. It is at that point that we are usually reminded that life is a mystery. The future is never fully embraced and known by mankind.
In the face of this reality, the believer always has the choice to realise his or her limitations and place all hope in God. In our current reading, that realisation lies in the invitation to listen to advice and accept instruction. The consequences of this will be seen in the future, for that is where wisdom comes from.
Wisdom in Proverbs is not only related to knowledge and decision-making, but is integrated in the way man reflects on himself before God, the Creator of life. In addition, wisdom also brings a new and valuable realisation that out of the many plans made by man, only God's decisions are carried out. God is the Ruler of the Universe including the time we live in. The past, present and future belong to Him alone. We walk in the flow of time because of God's love and wisdom alone.
Bible friends, let us humbly acknowledge our limitations before Him. There are many plans that we have in our minds, but what actually happens and is implemented in our lives is actually in His sovereignty alone. Therefore, we should always live in God's wisdom that enables us to recognise what is truly His will. It helps us to accept that no matter how good we are at planning, there are always limitations due to our human existence.
