Dumbness is not just about the cognitive side of humanity. It is also a reflection of a morality that refuses to submit to what is right. An ignorant person seeks to make justifications for his mistakes, when in fact the series of explanations only make his ignorance clearer.
That's what the preacher also observed, the fool will insist on his nonsense. Conveying it with conviction as if it were the truth. Unfortunately, others are often lost in his nonsense as well (vv. 2-3, 12-15). Foolishness is the opposite of wisdom. Just as wisdom cries out everywhere, so does foolishness. It can exist in the king's palace, where there are many advisors who should have more wisdom. The result is that people are not treated properly. Similarly, a foolish king will act carelessly. Not knowing the place and time. Behave inappropriately. Unfortunately, it is the people who bear the brunt of all these foolish actions.
Foolishness can also be present in the workplace in the form of laziness and inaction. These are people who do not utilise skills in their work. As a result, the time and effort required to complete a job also increases. Instead of being well prepared, a foolish person underestimates preparation. Dangers and threats always come in this way of working. He risks falling into the hole he digs, or being bitten by a snake because of the wall he breaks (v. 8). All these dangers were not anticipated by the foolish.
Let us be honest with ourselves and how we will see that foolishness has adorned itself more and more beautifully in modern times. One of the new packaging of ignorance is hoaxes that spread easily on social media. Everyone is increasingly fragmented with their own version of the truth without being willing to humble themselves to hear the other side, which is another name for ignorance. As believers, the preacher's advice today adds a new dimension to our faith. Faith requires not only a sincere heart, but also a clear mind, and an intellect that is always directed towards His wisdom. Thus, we will avoid foolishness that will torment ourselves and others.
