In our spiritual journey, what most often guides our lives? Is it merely our own desires and wishes, or do we entrust everything to God’s guidance and will? Are we able to accept with an open heart when God’s will turns out to be at odds with the reality we wish to realise? 

Perhaps this was also how the people of Jerusalem felt, having just been defeated and exiled to Babylon. God’s message through Jeremiah felt so heavy to bear. So, to please themselves, the people sought out another prophet who was willing to prophesy and speak only words that were pleasing to the ear. Yet that is not the duty of a prophet. A prophet serves only the truth that comes from the Lord. Whether the message is good or not is no excuse. 

This is where everyone should come to Him with a heart full of longing, rather than hiding away by refusing to ask for forgiveness for our sins. That is what Ahab and Zedekiah did—figures who claimed to speak for God, when in reality they were manipulating the people. 

Let us therefore ask God for wisdom, so that in this life and in our spiritual journey, He may always show us what is right. It is through this that we are enabled to build a relationship with Him, filled with gratitude and reverence—even when life is not going well. May God’s love guide us all.
