The 2024 Bible Week series has finally come to a close. September 7, 2024 was the last day of this grand event. The Motivation and Self-Development Seminar, Bible Quiz Competition, and closing worship service were part of the culmination of this event.
At 1 p.m. GMI Gloria was already packed with seminar and competition participants, who looked quite ready to hear self-development motivation and demonstrate Bible comprehension skills.
Seminar by Mr. Ulbrits Siahaan.
At every Bible Week event, LAI also organizes various seminars. One that is really considered is the self-development seminar. These seminars are aimed at both youth and adults. In this session, Mr. Ulbrits shared his story of struggling to get out of his life of poverty and isolation in the village. He shared how his life as the son of an ordinary man who only sold pigs was difficult and required hard work. He said that he always tried and prayed, in order to achieve his dreams. He set a goal that he should migrate and learn many things from college and then work in the best place with high quality. Although difficult, anything is possible if we are willing to fight for it, and are always willing to learn. About 200 people attended this seminar, and listened enthusiastically to every lecture given by Mr. Ulbrits.
Bible Quiz Competition.
On the same day, on the 4th floor of the Indonesian Methodist Church, one of the events of the Bible Week series was also held, namely the Junior High Bible Quiz. The competition was exciting and fierce like a Science Olympiad championship. The competition was followed by about 50 teams from schools in the Medan area. On that long afternoon, the atmosphere of the 4th floor of Gloria Indonesian Methodist Church (GMI) was filled with the sound of cheers and boisterous competition spectators. The sound of the quiz bell was also loudly heard from outside the competition room.
The competition was completed, and the winner was determined. The winners will be honored at the closing service of Bible Week.
Closing Worship.
At 4.30pm after the completion of the competition and seminar, the closing service was held. The service opened with a praise song accompanied by a collaboration of modern band instruments with traditional bells. So majestic and serene, the music continued to accompany the singing of the people. The meditation was delivered by Bhoksu (Pastor) Daniel Utomo, M.Th., as the pastor of the church.
In the evening, the winners of all competitions were announced and prizes were given to the winners of competitions in Medan Bible Week 2024.
All was exciting and lively, happiness and warmth were felt in this closing session.
But not only joy, it is hoped that this activity will also improve the quality of self and the quality of faith of all participants who attend. Seminars, competitions, and many other things and knowledge have been gained from this three-day event. May His Word always be loved and understood.
