Weaving a Legacy of Faith and Investment: LAI-Henan Asset Management Executive Gathering

In an exclusive meeting room at Sahid Sudirman Center, on 26 February 2026, the atmosphere that morning was different. It wasn't just a business forum or an investment presentation. The Executive Gathering held at Henan Asset Management's office was a meeting point between the vision of service and modern financial governance.

This collaborative event between Lembaga Alkitab Indonesia (LAI) and Henan Asset Management is designed as a joint step to introduce the Endowment Fund programme to partners who have the capacity and care from both corporations and individual investors.

Through this meeting, LAI and Henan would like to invite partners to see that supporting the ministry of Bible translation and dissemination does not always have to be through a one-time donation, but can be through a sustainably managed scheme. The hope is that the support raised will provide a strong foundation for LAI's ministry to continue, today and for generations to come.

From Investment to Legacy

Opening the series of events, Mathias Aryesam reminded that this meeting is not just about numbers. ” Today we are not just talking about investment. We are talking about the sustainability of long-term impact and how faith and wise management of funds can go hand in hand," he said.

A prayer led by Rev Anwar Tjen, Head of the LAI Translation Department, affirmed the spiritual direction of the meeting. ”Open our hearts and let this conversation be a step forward together to bring good news to the whole country to the remote areas,” he prayed.

A professional and exclusive atmosphere is deliberately built. For LAI, building trust and accountability are key foundations. The Endowment Fund is not just a financial instrument, but a sustainable mechanism so that the ministry of Bible translation and dissemination is not halted by economic fluctuations.

Why Perpetual Fund?

LAI General Treasurer, Bardiyono Wiyatmojo, explained the reality faced by the institution that has been established since 1954. To date, LAI has translated the complete Bible into 39 regional languages, and published more than 70 million copies. But the challenges remain great.

“ In 2025 there is a decline in support and the gap between budget and realisation is getting bigger. To answer the needs of 2026 and beyond, we need Rp 23.9 billion,” he explained.

He asserted, Endowment Fund was chosen as a strategic solution so that the principal fund is maintained and the development results sustain the service. “Our small steps today are an investment for good news in the future, ” he said.

Endowment Fund was chosen as a strategic solution so that the principal fund is maintained and the development results support the service.

Language of the Heart and Transformation

The data explanation came alive when Pastor Anwar Tjen shared a story from a remote part of Papua. He recounted the experience of launching the New Testament in Walak language in 2021.

“ They came, crying in the Walak language. On the word of God they promised peace forever. Until now the peace is maintained," he said.

He added, “The Word of God is the language of the heart. If we pray alone, what language do we use? That is the language of the heart.”

This testimony is the common thread why the Endowment Fund is needed. It's not just a matter of numbers, but of life transformation.

Governance Commitment

From the managing partner side, Director of Henan Asset Management, Markam Halim, emphasised the seriousness of his company. Established in 1990 and officially spun-off as an investment manager in 2006, Henan now manages funds of up to IDR 18 trillion as of the end of 2025.

“ This partnership is a very valuable trust assignment for us. How we will manage this very well and deliver the expected results, while helping LAI to carry out its vision and mission," he said.

He explained that the Endowment Fund concept is different from traditional donations. The funds placed will be invested carefully, around 70% in fixed income instruments and a maximum of 15% in stocks, with a target stable return of 6 & 7% per year. This will be the source of ongoing contributions to LAI, while the principal fund continues to grow.

Henan is also committed to sharing part of the management fee as a form of CSR to support the LAI programme. This scheme allows investors to continue to obtain optimal returns, while at the same time contributing to the ministry.

Building Trust Together

The interactive discussion showed both enthusiasm and caution from the partners. Questions about risks, long-term commitments, and CSR mechanisms were answered openly.

As an ecumenical institution serving all churches in Indonesia & nbsp; Protestant, Catholic, to Orthodox & nbsp; LAI asserts its financial governance is externally audited with an unqualified opinion.

Executive Gatheringthis became more than just a socialisation of the programme. It is a space to build trust: between the servicing institution, the fund manager, and the stakeholders.

Amidst economic challenges and changing digital behaviours, the Endowment Fund offers a new paradigm: giving without spending, investing while passing on faith.

As stated in the presentation, this is not just a financial investment, but a spiritual investment. A structured legacy to keep God's Word alive in the big city to the remote parts of the country.
