The Indonesian Bible Society, in collaboration with its Bali-based partner, the Support Mobilisation Working Group (KKPD), held an information session on the ‘Bringing the Good News to Children’ (KBUA) programme. The event was attended by 35 Sunday school teachers from various denominations in the Denpasar area of Bali. 

KBUA was first published in 1994 and is specifically designed for children aged 9–12 years, or those in Years 4–6 of primary school. Biblical stories, which can be dense, complex and sometimes difficult to understand, are presented in the form of children’s stories to make them more accessible. Children need to be addressed in a language they understand, appropriate to their age and their world. Good News for Children encourages children to learn to love God’s Word from an early age. By developing the habit of reading Bible stories from a young age, it is hoped that they will grow in their awareness of God’s Word as a source of inspiration and a guide for human life.

Good News for Children (KBUA) helps children understand the history of God’s salvation from Genesis to Revelation, from creation to the new heavens and the new earth. Through the habit of reading and loving God’s Word, it is hoped that they will develop an awareness of viewing God’s Word as a source of inspiration and a guide for human life. 

The Sunday School teachers present were very enthusiastic and plan to adopt the ‘Read KBUA in Full’ initiative across the Bali region. It is hoped that through this programme, children, particularly in the Bali region, will grow to love God’s Word more deeply through reading the KBUA, guided directly by the Sunday School teachers of their respective churches.
