God is always with His people. He stands by His promises and never turns His back on His creation. Unfortunately, we are the ones who often forget the works and love of God that unfold throughout the ages. In that limitation, humans need to be reminded of the works of God's love that have happened so far. So that we can be affirmed that God has never left us and that we can live our lives according to His will.
This time God's way of reminding us through His work is through the psalmist. Psalm 105 serves as a kind of flashback to God's various works in the world and the nation of Israel in particular. In this part of our reading, the psalmist invites the people to recall the plagues that God had inflicted on Israel. The reference to these events emphasizes God's power over life and His undeniable will.
All this was done by God in order to save the Israelites. God led them out of Egypt in glory. Even the psalmist shows how afraid the Egyptians were of Israel and the God they worshipped. On the way to the promised land, God never left them. The clouds were their cover and fire was there to light up the night. God provided food and drink in various ways. God did this because He remembered His promise to Abraham. Thus, God's people could continue to follow His statutes and keep all His teachings (v. 45).
Isn't that exactly what we need as we navigate the unpredictable times? Struggles, storms, and challenges should be within our grasp. Not because of our strength but because God is present and with us. When doubts about His help arise, we simply remember His love and presence throughout the ages.
This determination results in a commitment of faith to walk in God's decrees until He calls us back.
