In the life we have lived so far. Have you ever stopped to see the good works of God that have happened throughout our lives? Not a single second and time has passed without His presence. Thus, there is really no reason for us to feel alone because He is always with us. Praise to God is ultimately a necessity for those who remember His steadfast love.
In our reading this time, the psalmist also invites the people to remember the works of God that unfold throughout history. He delivered the Israelites from the grip of Egyptian slavery, even to the point of bringing plagues upon the nation. He made the nations and kingdoms that opposed Israel powerless. So that God could give Israel the inheritance that He had promised. That is the form of God's faithfulness to His promise to Israel.
The psalmist then compares the power of God that is manifest in history to the gods of the Gentiles. They are merely inanimate objects made of silver and gold, the work of human hands (v. 15). A far cry from the living God whom the Israelites worshipped. This remembrance of God's works of love will hopefully continue to be woven into the collective memory of God's people throughout the ages. In the end, God alone is exalted and praised by all nations.
Friends of the Bible, praising God means remembering His works of love and goodness unfolding in our lives. This gives us the strength to live a life that is in accordance with His will. Praising God is not mere words, but a heart and life that is always focused on God. Praise Him always because only in God is there eternal love and protection. We are witnesses to all the good that God has done.
