Don't be ignorant!

If one relies solely on his instincts, a human being will undoubtedly choose the path that is easy, convenient and least troublesome for him. Unfortunately, many people take advantage of this tendency to lead a person to various shortcuts that actually violate the law. Isn't that the fundamental principle of corruption, bribery, nepotism and collusion? People want shortcuts and quick ways to get to their destination. As believers, we are invited to walk in God's wisdom and righteousness, even when the path of wisdom leads us to situations that are not easy and uncomfortable.

Isaiah chapter 30 was written in a tense historical context. The kingdom of Judah at the time was under threat of destruction from the Assyrian Empire. Instead of relying on God, the leaders of Judah chose to co-operate with another superpower, Egypt. They sent envoys and tribute to Egypt to enter into a treaty of protection and alliance. God decisively exposed this decision as dangerous and rash. Judah was called rebellious children.

Egypt may seem strong and invincible. Yet destruction awaits this great nation. It will go through tribulation and distress. Even when danger did come to Judah, Egypt chose to remain silent. In the final part of this prophecy, God invites Judah to return to Him. In that return would come the salvation that comes from God. A salvation that is eternal and everlasting.

Friends of the Bible, let us learn to be able to process everything with His wisdom and discernment. Not to be reactive in responding to everything and first ask for His love and guidance. Often we feel that we have taken the best path, when in God's opinion the opposite may be true. May God guide us to always be able to live wisely and wisely according to His will.
