A father was seen sternly scolding his son for his son's wrongdoing. But the anger does not appear to be something that destroys, but rather there is a nuance of great love behind the anger. Apparently the anger was a form of firmness and concern for the father who wanted his son to grow up to be better. This is also the case in our relationship with God.
Section 18 opens with a description of God waiting to show His love. He is a just God, but His justice does not negate His desire to keep, care for, and love His people. True happiness is again proclaimed by God for those who turn back and wait for God completely. Continuing the context of the previous passage where Judah relied more on Egypt than God, now turn around.
God is slowly restoring Judah. Zion's cries will cease. The anguish that once was will be replaced with joy. This is God's process of chastening and discipline. Then the nation of Judah would receive guidance from God again. Provided they were willing to listen to God wholeheartedly. Idols are destroyed and have no place in the space of civilisation.
Friends of the Bible, believe that no matter what happens in our lives, God still loves us. Although the road of life often seems difficult and dark, but believe that God is always with us. Everything happens in the framework of His love and upbringing.
