Allah is a being beyond anything that humans can imagine. Yet in our love and awe of Him, we often reflect on God's existence and work through all of His creation, namely the religious phenomena and creations that we can see in nature.
The realization of God's omnipotence beyond all things is the focus of the psalmist in this chapter. The psalmist even opens his verse by inviting the heavenly creatures to glorify Him. Nothing escapes his power and the call to glorify him. Why should He be worshiped? Look at His voice echoing over the vast oceans and waters. Oceans have been known for their unreachability in human history, but they are insignificant in the face of God's power that comes like a thunderous letter.
Mount Lebanon and Mount Siryon were landscapes admired by the people of the ancient Middle East. Just looking at them, people were stunned and felt so small. However, God is also above all these mysterious landscapes. Even the mountains trembled before His voice. The terrifying flood waters are also where God dwells. He is the God who rules over all the earth, so we are all called to come to Him with humility and awareness of His almightiness.
Friends of the Bible, may we always remember that God's power is over all things. When we understand that God is all-powerful and sovereign over all, it is only natural that we come to confess and cry "Glory to the LORD!" In the presence of His glory nothing escapes God's sight. Nothing is greater than Him, including all the problems of life that come into our lives.
