The very existence of God is beyond our ability to grasp in our reason and senses. Nevertheless, we understand that the God we know is a God who approaches people and reveals Himself in many ways. In encounters with people and even through the natural objects He has created.
Psalm 113 is the psalmist's attempt to remind the people of Israel of a God whose greatness is beyond anything in the universe. We are His servants who were created to submit to serve the Creator. Praise to Him is a necessity that lasts as long as the sun rises and sets.
The God we believe in is a God who is in two tensions: His unreachability and His closeness to humans. So in our relationship with Him, what matters is whether we have responded to His revelation with our whole being. In the end, it is not us who approach Him first, but God who takes the initiative to embrace us in His love. Therefore, let us always strengthen our faith in God through our obedience to His will and words and actions that reflect it.
