Many people often think that situations that are difficult and full of struggles can keep us away from God. However, even good, abundant, and sufficient situations can keep us away from God's love, because in these situations a person is prone to falling into pride. Feeling that you can stand on your own feet without God's help at all.
That's what Isaiah's prophecy describes this time. God speaks of Samaria or the Northern Kingdom of Israel symbolised by Ephraim. The city was fertile and rich, but full of people who did evil. They were immersed in drunkenness and lusts that depicted the inner situation of the people of Northern Israel who forgot themselves, living in impurity, debauchery, and uncleanness. Ephraim did wear a crown that was so beautiful and magnificent, but it has fallen from the head of the wearer. Depicting the fall of northern Israel because of their own behaviour.
But thanks to God's mercy and compassion, He provides Himself to be the crown and head jewellery for the remnant of His people. He will favour those who sit in judgement and be a strength to those who fight for the truth. God's power and holiness appeared in the daily lives of the Israelites through concrete manifestations of justice that touched all elements of the nation.
Friends of the Bible, may the word of God at this time again invite us to reflect on what is truly most valuable in this life. We are often trapped and rely on wealth, position, and power, leaving God to live according to our own lusts. Such behaviour brings God's wrath and justice. God's words and decrees should be the only guide in our lives.
